Descrizione

Il nome specifico onora Julius Nyerere (1922-1999) che fu presidente della Tanzania dal 1961 al 1985. Questa specie può raggiungere una lunghezza di 7,7 cm. Le femmine della specie Haplochromis preferiscono i maschi Haplochromis nyererei che sono più colorati e luminosi rispetto al maschio opaco Haplochromis.

Diffusione

È una specie di ciclidi endemica del Lago Vittoria in Africa.
